Resilient Villages, in collaboration with Mountains Community Resource Network (MCRN) and Association of Bell, Dargan and Clarence Incorporated (ABCD Inc) hosted seventy ADRC24 delegates on a field trip to the Blue Mountains.
Delegates had the opportunity to hear from community members about their experiences of the 2019-2020 bushfires in the Blue Mountains, and the programs and activities which have supported their fire-impacted communities as they recover and build resilience. Delegates heard a presentation about Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness, a presentation on the significance of indigenous vegetation in reducing fire risk, a performance of a play called It's Time to Leave by a local playwright and many other stories of community collaboration and care. There were opportunities for delegates to engage with community members who generously shared their experiences, stories and hospitality.
