On 23 December 1984, a Cessna 210M took off from Koolan Island en route for Derby with a pilot and five passengers on board. The aircraft became airborne approximately 54m before the end of the runway then was seen to descend into a small ravine off the end before climbing steeply and striking power lines. The Cessna impacted the ground in a near vertical nose-down attitude, cartwheeled once then burst into flames. All six people on board died.
