Quick Statistics

5 Fatalities

On 22 March 2014, a light aircraft owned by a Caboolture skydiving company crashed shortly after take-off at Caboolture airfield. The plane failed to reach 60 metres before stalling and diving on to a crossing runway and bursting into flames, killing the pilot and all four passengers on board.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau’s final report said that due to the flames damaging the wreckage, they were unable to determine the cause of the stall. As a result of the accident, the Australian Parachute Federation put in place stronger safety measures and increased the number of auditors to ensure compliance.
