On 6 December 1986, two severe storms occurred over Adelaide and region with strong winds and heavy rain. Most damage was caused by wind; there was some flooding reported. Some areas in Adelaide Hills and the Far-North of the state were flooded.

The Insurance Council of Australia estimated the 1986 storm damage at $10 million, with the 2011 estimated normalised cost of $50 million.
