The Toroa was a wooden two mast schooner. It left Warrnambool for Melbourne on 6 August 1858 with 12 passengers and a full cargo onboard but failed to arrive.

Part of the cargo washed onto the beach at Barwon Heads suggesting she probably sank near Cape Otway 6-7 August 1858.

All twelve crew and passengers were presumed lost at sea.
