In September 1911, the SS Rosedale left Nambucca Heads on a journey headed to Sydney. On approaching open seas, the Rosedale sailed into a storm and was witnessed battling against the rough seas. She disappeared off Crowdy Head and was not sighted again. Thirty passengers and an unknown quantity of crew were onboard.
