Noongah was an Australian transport cargo ship on a voyage from Newcastle to Townsville with a cargo of steel when it foundered in a gale off Smoky Cape, New South Wales on 25 August 1969. The crew battled to stay afloat for several hours before abandoning ship 35 minutes before she sank.
An extensive air and sea search found only five survivors.
No trace was found of the remaining 21 crew.
