As a result of a tropical Cyclone which crossed Brisbane, heavy rain and subsequent flooding in south-east Queensland affected the following towns: Coolangatta, Tweed Heads, Bilinga, Murwillumbah, Mullumbimby, Byron Bay, Bangalow, Kingscliff Lismore, Glen Innes, Grafton and Killarney.

Extensive damage was reported to buildings, houses, crops farms (notably dairy) and other infrastructure including roads, railways and bridges.

Five people drowned.
