Honouring a legacy and embracing the future
With the physical contents of the AEML decommissioned, AIDR moves into a new era of knowledge management. AIDR will focus on strengthening the Australian Disaster Resilience Knowledge Hub [LINK] and the Australian Journal of Emergency Management [LINK] for practitioners to access knowledge.
Many AEML resources are already publicly available or accessible online via other existing platforms.

For materials that are not currently available elsewhere, AIDR worked through an audit to determine the best approach at maintaining public accessibility. The audit outcome ensured that some resources have been digitised, others reallocated to other libraries and priority items transferred to public archives such as the National Archives and the National Library of Australia.

- You can join the National Library of Australia to access the same EBSCO databases that the AEML offered. Here is the link to the National Library membership Join the Library | National Library of Australia (NLA) to access the journals and other resources housed there.
AIDR remains committed to promoting disaster resilience knowledge and will continue to curate and share contemporary resources through the Knowledge Hub and the Australian Journal of Emergency Management.
AEML’s legacy captures it's remarkable contribution to disaster resilience and the dedication of staff and volunteers who have supported the library and its community for decades.
