On 13 February 1978, an explosion occurred outside the Hilton Hotel in Sydney. Staying at the hotel at the time (for a Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting), India's Prime Minister was identified as the target of the attack.

Three people died and 9 people were injured as a result of the incident.
